(SMS) The Reign of Kindo - I Hate Music

Sometimes it’s easy to ignore
If it’s forgettable
Sometimes it’s magic to the soul
And claims you for its own
But every now and then I hear a sound that breaks the spell
Whoever puts that garbage on the air must love the smell

I can’t do this
People call it music but I’m not sure
If there’s a difference between the set of blueprints for radio and just plain noise

I turn my television on to pass me through the night
I’m watching fools try to sing an awful song they didn’t even write
I know some tool’s just sitting at a desk pulling the strings
They shove their garbage acts down every dial the towers reach

I hate music if that’s what you call music, but I don’t know
Who approves the shit they pass for music on these shows?
There’s no difference between the set of blueprints for radio and failure

There was a time you couldn’t fake your game
They turned the red light on and you delivered the goods
Or you were chased off stage by someone else who could
You were making magic or you couldn’t make (nothing) at all

   I hate music
If that’s what you call music, that’s for sure.
If you’re amused by the poly-sonic zoo, well, it’s all yours
Every day there’s a new song being played that sounds like hell
Whoever puts that garbage on the air must love the smell

You can listen to whatever you like
I’ll try and keep it bottled up inside
But don’t pretend it’s not polluting the world as it plays on and on and on and on

Somewhere they must have lost their way
And threw their souls out for attention and fame
Their taste is bad, their opinions are wrong,
They make awful shit but the radio keeps playing their songs

==========

Music... Something so subjective. Lots of varieties and differences. Musical genres that, if we stop to classify all of them, we would be days naming all. Inside of a single genre, we can find lots of variants. As practical example, I’ll use one of I like the most: metal. Myrtle we have thrush, speed, doom, death, black, melodic, symphonic, progressive… and many more.

There was a time in my life I wished death to all the other genres that weren’t metal. This stage has gone away, and one of the groups that made me open my eyes to other genres was this one from this song: The Reign of Kindo. With this band we can see a mix of jazz and rock, Latin music, and progressive elements. In all of this one thing is certain: music is plural.

Though, as entertainment, there are fake productions that manipulate the masses. Sticky and “poor” songs that play on the radio. you can search for the name Max Martin. He wrote/write songs for artists like Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, NSYNC, Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding… I don’t want to question their musicality, for all of them have their musical abilities, but in a majority, are songs that have the same repetitive pattern. There is a simpler and less complex production just to SELL. That’s what the radios want: an easy and ready formula. I hate this kind of music, for it’s all of the same. And it’s just like what The Reign of Kindo is criticising.

Get out of the sameness. Seek for new things! It’s easier today. Through Apple Music we have “Mix: discoveries”. Through Spotify we have “Weekly Discoveries”. Through Deezer we have “Flow”. Search on Google/Wikipedia related artists. Search for new things on Bandcamp or SoundCloud. Search for the artists on your city/region. Support the local scene! Go to their concerts, by their albums. Search for old artists that have a name and influenced what music is today, and where artists inspire in them. Make music/entertainment being something praiseworthy once again.

As recommendation, there is a short British documentary talking about this musical impoverishment called “The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful”. It even names this composer Max Martin.

(SMS) Black Label Society - Bury Your Soul

Sinking once again
Got no worries, I've found my chosen friends
Drifting from all I've known
Within this solace, now I call my home

   Bury your sorrow
   I'm feeling fine
   No more tomorrow
I've found my peace of mind

To wander without a care
Where nothing's ever judged, for I've had my share
Cut off from all I know
Silence are the seeds I care to sow

   Bury your sorrow...

Aimless and down
With no concern
Shed my own skin
To perish and burn

   Bury your sorrow...

The second definition on the word reflexo (reflection, in English), in the Brazilian Portuguese dictionary Aulete Digital, says: which is caused indirectly (and not directly) by something; INDIRECT. Our lives are REFLECTION of what we've lived, undergone and experienced since the day we were born. There are those which are positive, and those that are negative. Our biggest problem is that we get fond of all of this, and we don't allow letting go all what harm us.

Taking out this burden makes us lighter, unconcerned (not careless!) with all incoming problems. It is living today. It is carpe diem (from latin "seize the day"), and care less about tomorrow.

One of these days, try this: keep in total silence for about 10-15 minutes. You and you. No music. No books. No mobile. No computer. No television. Silence can heal only by reflection of the self. Also try this, in another day: gather your friends to drink some coffee, juice, or Coke. Have some barbecue, snack, pretzels, or that simple bread and ham. True friendship makes you feel safe.

If our own body, about every 28 days, shed our epidermis (the surface skin), which is a set of dead cells, why won't you let go of your sorrows, sadness and loneliness? Don't keep them for you. It'll make you sick! Bury your sorrow. Find peace of mind.
