(SMS) As I Lay Dying - Redefined

[Intro: Tim Lambesis]

I refuse to let go of the memories
'Cause they've changed everything inside of me

[Verse 1: Tim Lambesis & Jake Luhrs]
If I could go back now to save myself the loss
Substanceless character brought back would be the cost
Agony today is tomorrow's strength
So don't run away 'cause misery is
Evolving into something that we can't see
Evolving and becoming, transforming
So don't run away

[Chorus: Josh Gilbert & Tim Lambesis]
The pain can never be erased
Remain and turn it into strength, turn it into strength

[Verse 2: Tim Lambesis & Jake Luhrs]
What do we value in the midst of complacency?
But in despair, we beg for something, anything
Even our mistakes can have the power
To light the way like a glaring tower

[Chorus: Josh Gilbert]
The pain can never be erased
Remain and turn it into strength
From our failures, we are refined
Replacing frailty, allowing us to be redefined
[Bridge: Tim Lambesis]
Healed scars can be stronger than skin
The wounds we have can be rewritten
Redefined, redefined, redefined
Agony today is tomorrow's strength, redefined
So don't run away

[Interlude: Josh Gilbert]
The pain can never be erased

[Chorus: Josh Gilbert & Tim Lambesis]
The pain can never be erased
Remain and turn it into strength
The pain can never be erased
Remain and turn it into strength
From our failures, we are refined
Replacing frailty, allowing us to be redefined
From our failures we are refined
Replacing frailty, allowing us to be redefined

[Outro: Tim Lambesis]
Don't run away
Misery's evolving

Last year everyone's head exploded when As I Lay Dying released a new single. It was a release after a 5 year-hiatus of new releases, mainly beacause its lead singer, Tim Lambesis, was charged and found guilt while hiring a hitman to murder his ex-wife. The song is named "My Own Grave", and if you look deeply into it, you see his pointing his own mistakes. He's saying he's dug his own grave. I wrote about this song and you can revisit at ("My Own Grave", in Portuguese, for a while).

This song, Redefined, I see as an extension of "My Own Grave", but from a new perspective. He isn't denying his past. He isn't saying his innocent! He knows what he's done and, curiously, he doesn't want to forget. Though he points that he wouldn't do the same, even if he had the chance to. It was painful to face the consequences.

Every pain brings a new story. Every story is a new evolution. It can be for better or for worse. How will you deal with it? Are you living an evolution or involution? It is time to redefine.

(SMS) Shinedown - Simple Man

[Verse 1]
Well Mama told me when I was young
Said sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day

[Verse 2]
Oh, take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman, and you'll find love
And don't forget that there is someone up above

[Chorus]
And be a simple kind of man
Oh be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?

[Verse 3]
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need now is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

[Chorus]
And be a simple kind of man
Oh be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?

[Verse 4]
Oh, don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart, and nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want from you my son is to be satisfied

[Outro]
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?
So baby be a simple, be a simple man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can?

To start with... This is not an original song by Shinedown. It's a classic by the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. This version was presented to me by a friend, back in 2011. I like this version for two reasons: it has an acoustic version, and it has a full band version. There's strength in this singer's voice. There's emotion.

Emotion. This is what this song brings. It also brings experience of someone who has been through a lot, and now wants to share with someone younger, so this person doesn't need to suffer, at least a bunch, with his or her life. It can be a grandparent or even a parent.

Life's too short. We always try to do everything at the same time and in a hurry, and most of the time we forget ourselves. We want things to be complex. There's no need in this. I, myself, am learning this in the hardest way. We need to calm down. We need to rest. We need to be simple. We need to stare the skies, listen to the birds... We need to love! Love who we are and our neighbors as ourselves. We need to trust.

We all face problems, even if not now, they'll eventually show up. Everyone's been in it. It won't be different. What will be different is how you face it.

Be a simple kind of man.

(SMS) David Phelps - Water

As the desert sun burned hot upon my face
While drawing water in the middle of the day
Please give me a drink (That stranger's speaking to me)
My child do you think you could spare
Me some water (He must want more than water)

But you have crossed the line between us, me and you
(She is afraid, she is so broken)
Why when you asked me for water like you do
(This is her chance, she's ready now)
Oh but if you only knew (He speaks with so much heart and)
Who it is that speaks to you
You would ask me for water (I wanna know more of this water)

There is a living stream flowing from the deep,
(How can it be free and eternal)
endless and eternal

Drink from the only spring where you take a drink and never thirst again.
(Can it set me free)
Let it set you free.

So this water is a gift that you can give
(Please take it now it costs you nothing)
But if you only knew the life that I have lived
(I know the life that you have lived)
You can be different than before
(But then you took the shame, forgotten)
You can go and sin no more
(So this is how it feels to be forgiven)
My child, be forgiven.

There is a living stream flowing from the deep, endless and eternal
Drink from the only spring where you take a drink and never thirst again.
Let it set you free.
(Let it set you free)

My whole life has been in chains, a prisoner to this world
(My child, now go and tell)
Now at last this living water sets me free
(How at last this living water set you free)

There is a living stream flowing from the deep, endless and eternal
Drink from the only spring where you take a drink and never thirst again.
Let it set you free.
(Let it set me free)

Let it set you free.
(Let it set me free)

This song was requested by Andréia, a cousin of mine (2nd degree). Through her son, Vini, who already made a request which was already attended (Joey Landreth, Forgiveness), she kept on asking me when it would come (I have got a funny printscreen of this), and here it is!

The first thing that hooked my attention in this song was the conversation. The whole song is a conversation between a man and a woman. The woman has her doubts, while the man has the answers. I love these duets, though sometimes we get confused while trying to listen to both parts at the same time hahaha. Also, I see a connection with the excerpt found in John 4 in the Bible.

Our lives have been surrounded by dilemmas. We all have committed mistakes. We sometimes presume that we do not deserve any kind of mercy and with this burden on our backs, we avoid any chat regarding our past, afraid of remembering and crying over everything made us unhappy.

This is not true! We all deserve forgiveness. Our past means can be transformed into experience if we seek for a change of life. If we seek to satisfy our thirst. Past is rememberance of what we did wrong and must change. There is someone who can help us change. He can give us endless and eternal water, which heal our pain, free us from what brings us down. His name is Jesus. He is gentle and only will enter your life if you give permission.

Drink for the water He can give.

(SMS) August Burns Red - Midnight

Everyone has their own battles to fight
Even the darkest places can't hide the light
Life goes on when part of you dies
We're all alone and wondering, wondering why

We're all alone and wondering, wondering who'll save us
We're all alone and wondering, wondering who'll save us

We're all singing the same song
   I need a good word
We're all singing the same song
Someone to come along the way
   We're too busy running wild

You stopped to help
Yeah
You took me in
Now, listen to my voice

I want to sit and hear you out
I want to understand your pain
I want your pain
Everyone has their own battles to fight
To win, invite each other in
Invite each other in
We'll hear you out (Invite each other in, invite each other in)
Come join us now

Everyone has their own battles to fight
Even the darkest places can't hide the light
Life goes on when part of you dies
We're not alone and wondering, seek and you will find

We're not alone and wondering, wondering who'll save us (Save us)
We're not alone and wondering, wondering who'll save us (Save us)
Save us (Save us)
Save us (Save us)

Midnight. It can be the apex  of many and biggest emotions. It can be apex of positivism or negativism. There’s a huge mysticism regarding this time. The apex of night. The apex of emotions.
Emotions. There’s much to discuss about it. I myself have written tons on this topic. Topic that is important to talk and talk again, since anxiety, anorexia nervosa, post-traumatic stress and, mainly, depression, are considered the diseases of our century. I have queued a song particularly about depression, and two others in mind.
God is good, though all failures, mistakes and human judgements we try to put in Him, a divine being. He chooses people who live with us, fondly nicknamed as angels, which are always up to listen, which feel our pain and bring light when darkness prevails. People that are support and uplift to our battles. These people, in other hand, they can’t substitute your search for a mental or physical health professional.
We don’t need to imagine who can save us. We don’t need to go far beyond a simple conversation with God. A life with God won’t take your pain away, but you’ll have support and won’t walk alone through the night. We won’t be alone. We are not alone! And have some faith, for every tunnel has its light at the end.

(SMS) The Reign of Kindo - I Hate Music

Sometimes it’s easy to ignore
If it’s forgettable
Sometimes it’s magic to the soul
And claims you for its own
But every now and then I hear a sound that breaks the spell
Whoever puts that garbage on the air must love the smell

I can’t do this
People call it music but I’m not sure
If there’s a difference between the set of blueprints for radio and just plain noise

I turn my television on to pass me through the night
I’m watching fools try to sing an awful song they didn’t even write
I know some tool’s just sitting at a desk pulling the strings
They shove their garbage acts down every dial the towers reach

I hate music if that’s what you call music, but I don’t know
Who approves the shit they pass for music on these shows?
There’s no difference between the set of blueprints for radio and failure

There was a time you couldn’t fake your game
They turned the red light on and you delivered the goods
Or you were chased off stage by someone else who could
You were making magic or you couldn’t make (nothing) at all

   I hate music
If that’s what you call music, that’s for sure.
If you’re amused by the poly-sonic zoo, well, it’s all yours
Every day there’s a new song being played that sounds like hell
Whoever puts that garbage on the air must love the smell

You can listen to whatever you like
I’ll try and keep it bottled up inside
But don’t pretend it’s not polluting the world as it plays on and on and on and on

Somewhere they must have lost their way
And threw their souls out for attention and fame
Their taste is bad, their opinions are wrong,
They make awful shit but the radio keeps playing their songs

==========

Music... Something so subjective. Lots of varieties and differences. Musical genres that, if we stop to classify all of them, we would be days naming all. Inside of a single genre, we can find lots of variants. As practical example, I’ll use one of I like the most: metal. Myrtle we have thrush, speed, doom, death, black, melodic, symphonic, progressive… and many more.

There was a time in my life I wished death to all the other genres that weren’t metal. This stage has gone away, and one of the groups that made me open my eyes to other genres was this one from this song: The Reign of Kindo. With this band we can see a mix of jazz and rock, Latin music, and progressive elements. In all of this one thing is certain: music is plural.

Though, as entertainment, there are fake productions that manipulate the masses. Sticky and “poor” songs that play on the radio. you can search for the name Max Martin. He wrote/write songs for artists like Katy Perry, Backstreet Boys, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, NSYNC, Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding… I don’t want to question their musicality, for all of them have their musical abilities, but in a majority, are songs that have the same repetitive pattern. There is a simpler and less complex production just to SELL. That’s what the radios want: an easy and ready formula. I hate this kind of music, for it’s all of the same. And it’s just like what The Reign of Kindo is criticising.

Get out of the sameness. Seek for new things! It’s easier today. Through Apple Music we have “Mix: discoveries”. Through Spotify we have “Weekly Discoveries”. Through Deezer we have “Flow”. Search on Google/Wikipedia related artists. Search for new things on Bandcamp or SoundCloud. Search for the artists on your city/region. Support the local scene! Go to their concerts, by their albums. Search for old artists that have a name and influenced what music is today, and where artists inspire in them. Make music/entertainment being something praiseworthy once again.

As recommendation, there is a short British documentary talking about this musical impoverishment called “The TRUTH Why Modern Music Is Awful”. It even names this composer Max Martin.

(SMS) Black Label Society - Bury Your Soul

Sinking once again
Got no worries, I've found my chosen friends
Drifting from all I've known
Within this solace, now I call my home

   Bury your sorrow
   I'm feeling fine
   No more tomorrow
I've found my peace of mind

To wander without a care
Where nothing's ever judged, for I've had my share
Cut off from all I know
Silence are the seeds I care to sow

   Bury your sorrow...

Aimless and down
With no concern
Shed my own skin
To perish and burn

   Bury your sorrow...

==========

The second definition on the word reflexo (reflection, in English), in the Brazilian Portuguese dictionary Aulete Digital, says: which is caused indirectly (and not directly) by something; INDIRECT. Our lives are REFLECTION of what we've lived, undergone and experienced since the day we were born. There are those which are positive, and those that are negative. Our biggest problem is that we get fond of all of this, and we don't allow letting go all what harm us.

Taking out this burden makes us lighter, unconcerned (not careless!) with all incoming problems. It is living today. It is carpe diem (from latin "seize the day"), and care less about tomorrow.

One of these days, try this: keep in total silence for about 10-15 minutes. You and you. No music. No books. No mobile. No computer. No television. Silence can heal only by reflection of the self. Also try this, in another day: gather your friends to drink some coffee, juice, or Coke. Have some barbecue, snack, pretzels, or that simple bread and ham. True friendship makes you feel safe.

If our own body, about every 28 days, shed our epidermis (the surface skin), which is a set of dead cells, why won't you let go of your sorrows, sadness and loneliness? Don't keep them for you. It'll make you sick! Bury your sorrow. Find peace of mind.

(SMS) Casting Crowns - Waiting On The Night To Fall

There’s an old man living in the back of your woods tonight
You forgot he was even there, but you’ve never slipped his mind
He’s living off of scraps of you you never knew you left behind
And as the sun goes down, he rises with a smile

He’s waiting on the night to fall
The old mans coming to call
You don’t see the writing on the wall
He’ll never step out in the light
   No, he’s just biding time
And while you slumber, he’s gonna come and take it all
He’s waiting on the night to fall
He’s waiting on the night to fall

He knows you have the answers, but Truth lies dusty on your shelf
And the sword that you could slay him with has become an ornament and nothing else
You could put him back down in his hole in the ground, but he knows you never will
He’s been around so long you got used to the smell

He’s waiting on the night to fall...

He knows he'll never have your soul
But he will gladly rob you blind
While you’re feasting at his table, he'll tie your hands and numb your mind
He'll take you farther than you wanna go
He'll keep you longer than you wanna stay
And it will cost you more than you ever thought you’d pay

He’s waiting on the night to fall...

==========

Today's song is another requests that were done. This time by my friend Nathalia.

Casting Crowns is a band that I know some random songs. Some Portuguese versions we sing at church, and others because someone commented to me. I like the singer's voice, but it is a genre that I don't usually listen to. One day, maybe?

There's an analogy of an old man living in the woods, and he's waiting on the night to fall. You and I aren't the same people of yesterday. Who's going to say about 10 years ago! Now there's this trend "10 years challenge", where you take a picture of yours from 10 years ago and compare to one from nowadays. Some changes may be small. Others are huge! But one thing is certain: there were changes.

Change has to be for better, not for worse. I want to be better than I was yesterday. I want to be a better teacher than I was last year. Though, among lots of changes, there are those old habits that we put them on the shelf, but, from time to time, we visit them. Bad habits, that decay who we are. Decay our character. Vices? It can be. And it is right on the fall of the night, where the sun doesn't shine or heat, that it likes to show up. It is for this reason camps let a campfire on, to protect from raids. Also at night it is when we are liable to let our guards down, for we are tired/drowsy.

The great enemy, Satan, is like a lion that walks roaring around us. This comparison is on 1 Peter 5.8. The Bible recommends to stay alert and sober, and to not let our guards down. The roar are temptations provoking us. Those vices we shelf to use later. A lion only attacks when it's a sure strike.

And how to stay alert and sober, and not be attacked? On the song's second stanza we see an excerpt of knowing the answer, but the Truth is dusty, and the sword that could slay it, it is just an ornament. On the book of John 8.32, and also 14.6, Jesus is shown as the truth. In the letter to Hebrews 4.12 says that the Word of God (Bible) is sharper than any two-edged sword. We aren't strong enough to fight against evil. Our own strength is flaw, but God is kind and helps us to get, if we seek Him. He's gentle. Righteous, but gentle.

Living with evil around us make us feel conformed with what it does, with its smell. It turns us indifferent. There's a chance to change this. Look at the signs, the writings, the boards on the wall!!! Seek God. Make your life have a meaning. Don't let your old personality come back. Seek new. Seek being better. Seek God!

(SMS) Linkin Park - One More Light

Should've stayed, were there signs I ignored?
Can I help you, not to hurt, anymore?
We saw brilliance, when the world, was asleep
There are things that we can have, but can't keep

   If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
   It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
   Or quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
   Well I do

The reminders, pull the floor from your feet
In the kitchen, one more chair than you need, oh
And you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair
Just 'cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it, isn't there

   If they say

(I do)

Who cares if one more light goes out?

==========

Back in July 2017, when I only sent these song's thoughts via WhatsApp and didn't post here on the blog, I wrote about this song. I remember people asking if it was about Chester Bennington, because I wrote about 6 days after his death. I can say yes and no, because the lyrics were tickling my head again and again. And they did again when playing my songs in random.

It is difficult to talk about death. Dealing with it, even more! Everyday during news there is at least one call about death. We are getting numb. Our feelings are getting numb. We don't care anymore about others. We only want to check our belly buttons, our ego. Our self. But how about the person next to me? And when I say that, I don't mean only the ones I know, but those strange faces we see passing by on streets. Have you ever thought about their feelings? Have you ever noticed their facial expressions? Have you ever stopped someone who was crying on a bench and asked if you could help?

We only care about life when someone dear to us dies. We only see the real value when it isn't here anymore. We are 7 billion people in the world. If just one dies, who will care? We all should and must care. It's a life! Someone isn't here anymore! A family is crying. A family is missing someone at their dinner table. Their thoughts and feelings will never be the same.

Finally, coming back to the first paragraph, where I said about Chester. He committed suicide because of a hard depression he was suffering. Recently, I've seen lots of headlines in articles saying someone has died because of depression, and even in church with many pastors, a place you probably know I am into. Depression is not a devil's thing. Depression is real and it is a disease! Open your eyes. See the people. Care about them. Talk to them. And if you're the one suffering, someone cares about you. Be strong and seek help. If it's urgent, talk to me. I'm here for you!

Who cares if one more light goes out? I do.

(SMS) Death - Flesh and the Power it Holds

I told you once but I will say it again
When you live the flesh
It is the beginning of the end

   It will take you in
   It will spit you out
   Behold the flesh
   And the power it holds

Passion is a poison
Laced with pleasure bitter-sweet
One of many faces
That hide deep beneath

   It will take you in
   It will spit you out
   Behold the flesh
   And the power it holds

Touch, taste, breathe, consume

Déjà-vu, already knew from the first encounter
But now I know to let go of words to speak no more

Like a wind upon your face, you can't see it
But you know it's there
When beauty shows its ugly face
Just be prepared

Passion burns like fire carried by the wind
The end of a time, a time to begin

   It will take you in
   It will spit you out
   Behold the flesh
   And the power it holds

It builds you up one way and tears you right back down
A time to begin, the end of a time

   It will take you in
   It will spit you out
   Behold the flesh
   And the power it holds

Touch, taste, breathe, consumed

Déjà-vu, already knew from the first encounter
But now I know to let go of words to speak no more

Like a wind upon your face, you can't see it
But you know it's there
When beauty shows its ugly face
Just be prepared

==========

Death is a band that always made me feel something. At first I wanted to stay as far as possible (LOOK AT THE BAND'S NAME! "DEATH"!). After a while, curiosity for its musical influence in one of the genres I like the most: they're considered the fathers of Death Metal. And lastly, because of I said for second, a non-stopping wish of listening them. Their lyrics are smart, intriguing and provoking. Mostly the last two albums (which are my favorites). And their last album, in which this song is in, is the most provocative. I like its name: THE SOUND OF PERSEVERANCE. I can't deny this song got stuck in my mind even more after a pastor reacting to it along with his son (links and references at the end of this post).

According one of the definitions in Michaelis On-line Portugues Brazilian dictionary, the word desire is shown as "yearning or conscious need; wish, will". We all have our wishes, our yearnings. Some healthy, others not. A good and practical example is food: I may be hungry and eat just what I need, or I get sick of eating a lot.

A Greek work that can define our humanity is sarx [from this word we also have sarcophagus ('sarx' + 'phagos')]. Translated as flesh, it can be the literal soft skin we have, and also our human nature. This last one as basis, it is what we see in this song's lyrics.

Our sarx, though all kindness we may do, we still are evil. Our nature is harmful (if you don't do it now, which I surely doubt, you certainly did in the past, with that little secret of yours that only you know). But there is danger in letting you be carried by this nature: it destroys you little by little. It makes you indifferent. It makes you lose all tenderness. Evil is taken by routine in your life. We can't live like that. We must seek being better every day.

In old times we had a great writer and preacher named Paul. He wrote the biggest part of the books found in the New Testament on the Bible. In the letter he wrote the the church in Rome, we have this excerpt:

'But I see another law working in my body. That law makes war against the law that my mind accepts. That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner. In my mind I am happy with God’s law. So I have learned this rule: When I want to do good, evil is there with me. ' Romans 7:21-23 (ERV)

Even though I want to do good things, there will be a time I'll be doing bad things. And this, in a certain way, points to our freedom: what are we doing with it? Paul, in a letter to another church, in the region of Galatia (which today is a region in the modern Turkey), also commented this:

'My friends, God has chosen you to come to him so that you can be free. But you must be free in the right way. You are not free to do everything that, as a human person, you may sometimes want to do. Instead, you must be like servants to each other because you love each other. ' Galatians 5:13 (EASY)

It's been 4 days since we started 2019. You probably have seem in some social medias comments like "NEW YEAR, NEW LIFE, NEW ME", or something like that. Make this new year, for real, a year of changes, but don't let trivial pleasures, which may destroy who you are, take you away. Pursue being better! Seek God!

'And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. ' 1 John 2:16-17 (NLT)

(SMS) Iron Maiden - Wasted Years

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas
I'm travelling on, far and wide
But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself
And all the things I sometimes do,
It isn't me but someone else

I close my eyes, and think of home
Another city goes by, in the night
Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it til it's gone away
And my heart is lying there
And will be til my dying day

   So understand
   Don't waste your time
Always searching for those wasted years
   Face up...make your stand
And realize you're living in the golden years!

Too much time on my hands,
I got you on my mind
Can't ease this pain, so easily
When you can't find the words to say,
It's hard to make it through another day
And it makes me wanna cry,
And throw my hands up to the sky

   So understand...

=====

Another year's over. I've seen some people complaining it was a complicated and wasted year. I can't deny there were tons of problems (political, emotional, social), but there were some hope (science, medicine, humanity).

Now, forget the rest and focus on you. How was your year? What happened for good? What happened for bad? What have you learnt from it? What experiences have you got? Have you been in love? Have you been disillusioned?

I've got my experiences. I've finally finished my undergrad course in Languages and Literature, got a car, took my driver's license, seen my brother get married and my dad been restored as a pastor, also started my graduation in Cultural and Language Aspects of the English Language. But, some friends died, lost reliance on anothers, was forgotten by some, and probably hated by a part. In all of this, it was an awesome year. Probably the one I've learnt the most. Though some issues I've been through, I'm still here, eager to learn and live more.

I don't see 2018 as a Wasted Year, as the title song. I'm living the golden years of my life. I'm learning to live and love again. I'm learning how to be more caress, comprehensive, listener. Appreciator from the small things of life. And all of this I'm learning is what I want for 2019. It may be not easy. I can even cry a lot, but I won't give up. I'll raise my hands to sky and ask for God's guidance, and do my best for now.

And I want you to stop and meditate what has happened in 2018. The good and bad things. Settle your thoughts down and prepare for 2019. May God shine upon your life and actions. Live the best. Live the golden years, which are now.

(SMS) OutroEu - Coisa de Casa

Cold night
Always better than hot
Tidy bed
Always stick us together

Brazilian Rain Donuts
Along with a blanket
Oh my goodness* does anybody called grandpa?

Sultry home
A light that doesn't even touch us
Warped table
Put a paper and then we go

Brazilian Rain Donuts
I think it made me wet
What an outrageous thing
Has anybody called grandpa yet?

   Leave home whenever it's possible
But leave without forgetting that your home is always here

Leaving home is only for whoever wants
     Because courage walks on foot
     And will take you far

An abandoned sock
In the room never absent
Tilted picture
Inside the photo, us

Rain Brazilian Donuts
Bring just one more to grandpa
Watch out the frying oil
But in it there's lots of love

   Leave home whenever it's possible
But leave without forgetting that your home is always here

Leaving home is only for whoever wants
     Because courage walks on foot
     And will take you far

*In Portuguese is sung "Ave Maria", and the nearest expression I could find was this.
==========

This song was my sister's, Mariana, request. She, by the way, has a funny blog of incidents that happen to her (in a different, almost unique, like the oregano, which I had an appearance), where she tells in a peculiar way. Just check her Instagram, @mariserelepe and laugh together (but it's in Portuguese).

Well... as I said, Mariana is my sister. Sister is in a concept we call family. Family is a term that is losing its context and real meaning. When I remember about family, it comes to mind people sitting around the table during breakfast, lunch, snack time, and dinner, talking about everything and nothing. Laughing or crying. Telling what was the last world news or what was the last news of relatives that we don't usually see. What happened at work/school or what happened with our friends. Doing whatever the possible to be together around the table (or being forced while wishing to play video games instead).

I remember being along with my cousins in our grandparents homes, playing here and there. Tag, soccer, Power Rangers, swimming pool, toy car, bicycle... everything! And in the end, grandma always had a snack to make all children happy (when we were lucky to win some kind of Popsicle/ice cream bonus). I'm not even mentioning the clothes and socks scattered and lost in different places around the house.

Family makes us feel... at home! A comforting place. A comforting that brings peace. Peace that brings memories. Memories that make us travel in time and not see time flying.

We may take different paths in our lives. Moving from home. City. State. Why not country as well? It takes boldness to create physical distance of whom we love. Though this distance cannot makes us emotionally far. Our roots. Who we are!

Are we valuing those who are closer to us physically and emotionally? Are valuing enough those who shaped part of who we are (although many, unfortunately, had a negative experience with this, there's influence in being different or following the same way)? Christmas is coming. Maybe this is the opportunity to forgive, because we all fight. Maybe this is your last chance to see that smile once again. Hold this festive moment.

"But leave without forgetting that your home is always here"
