Curiously not 10 minutes after listening to this song in the week it was released, my friend Eber (which writes on the blog Conjugando o Verbo), sent me this very same song and added: "it would fit so well in Building a Memory!". I agree with him.


I really like Ozzy Osbourne's bio in Spotify. He's one of the most unique beings in this planet, where madness is his best definition. It's so weird knowing that he has a book where he gives medical advice (Trust Me, I'm Doctor Ozzy). I'm reading and I'm having a good time laughing with it.


After this summary, we know he had the opposite of an ordinary life. We can say the same on Elton John, who plays the piano and sings the second verse, and Slash, who plays the guitar solo. They were anonymous at some point and, with a turn of events, they became famous.

What is the purpose of life? Why are you here? Just another person in this world? What are you making to change the world? These three moulded what rock and roll look like.

Looking at the lyrics we see some melancholy about life. Fear of dying without doing any difference. OZZY OSBOURNE FEARS LEAVING THE WORLD BEING "ANOTHER ONE".

Despite possessing a not very exemplary behaviour, he is genuine in his attitudes and will be remembered for making a difference. His perspective of the world may differ from ours. We don't need to be worldly famous. Our world can be our family, friends, co-workers or those living near us.

Ozzy is 71 till the moment I'm writing this text. By his age, he could easily get sick and even hear rumours of death. When we hear his name, something comes to our mind. When people hear your name, what do they evoke?

During the holidays I've been to Minas Gerais visiting my families. My grandpa, which is 88 years old, was talking about life. About how he would be remembered and what would be his heritage.

You probably are as young as I am. I'm just a 26-year-old boy and, as a teacher, I wonder how my students will remember me. Tedious or enthralling? Kind or insensitive? Someone who cares or just a know-it-all who doesn't care? I'm trying my best to be different. I don't want to die an ordinary man. Do you?

K7 #006 - Self-Titled




Artists are creative by the simply way of making music. Their song's names may have or not sense to what is sung. Now, a higher level of creation is when the artist decides to name a song with the group's name. Excess or lack or creativity? The situation gets even more curious when the song with the artist's name is on the album with the same name as the both already mentioned. It's mind-blowing!

 This is a question that will stay for a while in my mind, and talking about time, I've spent a good part of mine to find these songs. Some, that are not part of this list, were available only on YouTube, or I thought the language was not appropriate at all. 

 So, no more waiting, here's the playlist where each song has the same artist's name and, in some cases, even the same album's name. Take this time to discover new sounds, as I did while researching.

Some friends accompany you since early age and become as close as blood siblings. One of my is Raul, who is an authentic being, big-hearted, passionate about music, his wife and, mainly, God. Someone whom is worth every second with. Not so long after writing about Alter Bridge's Blackbird, he asked me to write about this one.

While there's melancholy the way the song is sung, the vocal lines evoke comfort and peace. Right at the first verses it is clear this is a homage to someone. Someone important and inspires the composer to keep on, regardless the surrounding situation.

Facing death is never easy. We never expect we're going to die. We're used with life, with having someone next to us till, one wretched day, it's gone. Fortunately only the body goes away, because people leave their marks. Marks of love, joy, peace and life. Life which is eternal in our minds.

I had a cousin who had a car accident in August 2014 and, after a long struggle, he passed away. Oh! Gabriel. How I miss you! Peaceful lad, kind and funny. His life was just bouncing back: a job that made him happy, a girlfriend who loved and supported him. Sometimes I question the reason of all of this, because he was a good person and nobody desired him wrong.

Time goes on the and remembrances of him are the best, because, while alive, he was always smiling and captivating. Of course, it won't be the same going to Minas Gerais and knowing he won't be there, but, in the other hand, he doesn't suffer any more. Doesn't feel any more pain. His life is free of all evil. That doesn't mean I stopped loving him, but I carry close to the heart his memories while alive, and bring as hope and smile for my daily-basis, as well some songs that remind me of him.

Alter Bridge's guitarist, Mark Tremonti, wrote this song paying homage to his late mother, as well using references of his home town, which always has a passing breeze, as she was the wind touching his face.

Who do you love and isn't in this world any more? I know it hurts losing someone, but carrying in heart and mind the good memories it's way easier.

K7 #005 - Cities


It's a rare piece knowing someone who doesn't want to visit at least one city besides the one this person lives. Some of them want only in their country, while others desire the whole world. The historical and cultural diversity is enormous and, to me, urges so hard. 

Each song is a reference to a city, and it has its name on the song's title. I've limited to only a song per country. Not necessarily a description of the city, but a feeling or memory that inspired the composer, positively or not.

Some time ago I've asked some suggestions to talk about on Construindo Uma Memória's Instagram (the English version of the blog is Building A Memory, but the Instagram and Facebook have the Portuguese name). My cousin and this blog's proof-reader, Vinícius Duarte, gave me not one nor two but about five suggestions. I'm interchanging them and, finally, time to attend one more.

All the songs he's suggested have a deep meaning. It often gets me on what I'm feeling or lived recently. I can see the main focus on this song is, once again, about forgiving. Check it out on the blog the K7 #003 (playlist), Warrior (Demi Lovato), Summer of Darkness (Demon Hunter), and Forgiveness (Joey Landreth), they all talk about this subject in their way.

Our world is full of people bragging their achievements and proving how themselves are the best in the world. They're drowning in their ego. But that isn't how we're supposed to live. We live in a community that have other beings with feelings, emotions, desires, dreams, opinions and even delusions, as we have our own as well.

I like when the pastor of the church I go says that when one forgives the most benefited in this process is the one who has forgiven because you're taking off that weight you were carrying. If who receives the forgiveness doesn't forgive, it's up to him or her.

Gossip. Probably you made some or were the victim of it, just like the game "telephone" that is mentioned in the first verse. As the story goes from one to one, in the end, the message is confusing nonsense. How about stop playing this game and, as Psalms 23:5 suggests, sit with your enemies, setting the table and finish all these problems? That is what Jesus taught: forgive those who trespass against us. Not an easy task, but the results are worth.

Are you ready to crack the case? We all commit mistakes and deserve our punishment for it because, somehow, we acted consciously. But our past, what shaped who we are, we didn't have an option, though we can transform the way things go. Don't hesitate and be the change. Be the one to start forgiving!

K7 #004 - Biography


Songs always tell stories. Fiction or real, something is told. Today I’ve chosen songs that tell part of history or facts that concern people which, somehow, marked a city, region, or even the world. I, myself, got to know some of them while researching about this subject.

In a very random day YouTube suggested something very random. I got curious about the band's name: Bloodywood. It sounded to me like a parody to the Indian film industry Bollywood, which some time later that in their early days they would do parody of the respective industry of films. I didn't know what to expect when I opened the video. For my surprise and joy, it was of the best and the most beautiful songs I heard in 2019. While following the subtitles/lyrics in the videoclip (because there are some excerpts that are sung in hindi and they are translated in bold and italics in the lyrics I've shared), I cried by how profound it was embed.

It's sad to think that in 2020 many still say depression, or any other mental illness, is nonsense. It's also sad knowing that many that suffer from this ailment are mocked and made inferior. It's a subject of global worry, it isn't a coincidence it's been raised a discussion about depression being considered the evil of the plague of the century. Not of the year nor the decade: IT'S OF THE CENTURY!

Yet, there are good people that raise and make everything to help. This very own band put themselves in order to help in a partnership with an online institution which helps who need, HopeTherapy, donating some discount coupons (which is commented about in nearly 4:42 of the videoclip).

Have you ever stopped to notice if any of your fellows suffer from this evil? What have you done or are doing to help them? Maybe you don't have financial conditions to buy helping sessions to someone you know, but I'm pretty sure that a phone call, a message, calling out for some coffee, or simply stay side-to-side in silence, are ways of helping of helping this person to get out of its loneliness.
