(SMS) John Steel & Blaze Bayley - Change

[Verse 1]
All your life will stay the way it is today
If you live the way you have always lived your life like now.
If you want something change you've got to look inside your self
You have got to find a way to start the change.

[Chorus]
Time to change the world
Time to change the world

[Verse 2]
Will you let them hold you back because your scared of what they say
Or will you make your whole life your own
Open up the door yourself or kick it down without their help
God helps those who help themselves to change

[Chorus]
Time to change the world
Time to change the world

[Verse 1]
[Chorus]

Listening to music was always a hobby. Since early age I’m sticking into what refers to music. I get in love easily, mainly for the melody that is behind. But what really makes me like a song besides melody, and makes me enthralled by it, is the combination with the lyrics.

I’ve been listening to Blaze Bayley albums these last weeks. He was the main singer in the albums “The X Factor” and “Virtual XI” from Iron Maiden, and with his merits or demerits by taking the vocals right after Bruce Dickinson departure, these two albums weren’t well received (I particularly like them a lot, though they are different from what Iron Maiden is). After leaving the band, Blaze is releasing his solo career, with highs and lows, but without the deserved success. Intelligent lyrics, talking from sci-fi to our inner struggles.

Tuning through the Spotify albums, I’ve got into a song that many parts caught my attention while sung. Looking after the lyrics, I couldn’t find, because curiously, it isn’t his song but from the Bulgarian band John Steel, which together they recorded an album (for me sounded like a regular one from Bayley’s discography). And, even not being his, it is noticeable the influence in the writing process.

It never made sense Blaze being part of Iron Maiden. His vocal range is very different from what Paul Di’Anno (Iron Maiden’s first singer) and Bruce Dickinson did. But he never stopped. He always tried his, even seeming improbable, and even being criticised by being “different”, he didn’t give up. He tried to change the world, at least his world. The “scar” of being a former Iron Maiden singer didn’t shake his fries, not even his wife and manager’s death in 2008, because of a brain haemorrhage. He may have thought about giving up, but he’s still changing the world. Last year he released a studio album and, this year, a live recorded in France.

To conclude, I want to point out a part that caught my attention the most: “God help those who help themselves to change”. I don’t understand people who think that by just asking God’s help they’ll have their problems solved, just like a lamp’s genius would do. God is really able to realise the miracle, but he doesn’t want us to be stagnant and comfortable in our state.

Do not stay the way you are today. Run after changing. Ask God’s and change the world.
