(Albums Recommendations) Michael Jackson - Off The Wall [1979]

Michael boy... it took me a while to fully appreciate his works. Unfortunately it happened after his passing away. Of course I knew some songs that I really liked, though only momentarily. But the point that everything changed was when his documentary This Is It (2009) was broadcasted in 2011 in an open transmission channel. I was amazed by how he cared about the songs and their perfect execution. After that moment I decided to dive into his discography.

I can say I had an excellent start by buying the album I'm talking about today: Off the Wall. It was a discount day at the shop I was in and I paid only R$7 (nearly €1 / £1 / US$2). The moment I got home and put it in my laptop to listen to, my head blew away. Everything was so well produced and ahead of its time. If I didn't know it was from the 70s, I'd say it was something from the 80s or even the 90s because of the quality. Of course the main genre in the album leads directly to the 70s, but once again, I mention the spectacular quality!

For me a good album must have a good starting song, and with this album is not different. "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" had its fame days and it's a contagious song. It even was the main theme of "Video Show", a Brazilian TV programme, for some time. The instrumentation here are of high level as well. Someone taking its first steps into music won't be able to perform them immediately, for the arrangements present in the songs demands some time of studying and improvement. The riffs are remarkable and will get stuck in your head (you'll notice yourself humming some of them).

Every song here is worth having a spot as the best of all time. It's not a coincidence that Michael Jackson was entitled as The King of Pop. And the ones that I like the most (I'm trying to not choose them all), as they are played, are:

• Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough

• Rock With You

• Workin' Day And Night

• Get On The Floor

• Off The Wall

• It's The Falling In Love

• Burn This Disco Out

Let the rhythm flow through your veins and permit yourself getting on the dance floor.
