(SMS) Luke Easter - Sleep

[Verse 1]
Another day gone
One less to get through
Another chance to obsess
Another chance to second guess
Another chance to question your every thought
To blame yourself for whatever’s wrong

[Chorus]
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Don’t hold on so tight
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Leave the past to die

[Verse 2]
Another day gone
Another night beckons
Another chance to rest
Another chance to disconnect
Another chance to learn how to let things go
To accept what you cannot control

[Chorus]
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Don’t hold on so tight
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Leave the past to die

[Post Chorus]
Tomorrow may well be
A replay of today
But for now, find peace
Sleep

[Bridge]
Sometimes truth can be found in reflection
Life is wasted without introspection
Tell me, what is the point of obsession
Over things you can never, never, never change?

I pray you find peace
I pray you find peace
Sleep

[Chorus]
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Don’t hold on so tight
I pray you find peace
Sleep
Leave the past to die

[Post Chorus]
Tomorrow may well be
A replay of today
But for now, find peace
But for now, find peace
But for now, find peace
Sleep

According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary peace is a state of tranquillity or quiet. Finding peace was never easy. I won't talk about wars that happened or are happening in our world, or even this COVID-19 pandemic. This goes beyond what we can put our flesh and blood hands on. I'm talking about our inner state. Our inner peace.

What does disturb your peace? Is it your job? Your neighbour? Your family? Each one of us have our own problems to face it, and when we worry more than necessary about it, we lose our peace. A single event can disturb our inner state and even steal our sleep.

We deal with people putting pressure on us, telling it's gibberish or nonsense. Only we know what we are really facing. Sometimes we can overcome, sometimes we cannot. We sometimes can't even see the end of the day. We feel like drowning, but that is not the end. As I usually comment on songs here on the blog, there are people who support us, who are by our side helping in the most difficult moments. Don't give up on them. They are the ones praying for you to find peace. They are the ones walking side to side, even in silence, sometimes.

Find some time to rest, to disconnect. Learn to let go. Tomorrow is a different day, maybe a replay of today, but for now, find peace. Sleep.

'Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4:6-7
